TEHRAN - Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council has said that the Supreme Leader’s letter in which he set guidelines for the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action rectified all possible defects in the ratifications of the Majlis and the Supreme National Security Council.
The Supreme National Security Council’s approval, the Parliament’s plan and the Leader’s letter are three “comprehensive” documents according to which the JCPOA can be implemented, Mohsen Rezaee said in a press conference on Saturday.
On July 14 Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) finalized the text of the JCPOA, commonly known as the nuclear deal according to which Iran will slow down its nuclear activities for a decade and instead sanctions against the country will be lifted.
In October, the Leader wrote a letter to President Hassan Rouhani setting nine guidelines in regard to the implementation of the JCPOA.
Rezaee said that there are “opportunities and threats” in the JCPOA, urging the officials to take actions in a way that the opportunities are used and the threats are foiled.
Elsewhere, he said that the U.S. should make big changes in its policies and in its behavior towards the Iranian people if it wants the slogan of “damn with the U.S.” not to be chanted Iranians any longer.
Commenting on the Syria crisis, he said that Iran will continue supporting the Syrian government and people.
The Syrian people should determine the future of their country, he added.
